What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening serves to lighten the color of your teeth.
Whitening only lightens the shade of the teeth
Whitening only lightens the shade of the teeth
Teeth whitening serves to lighten the color of your teeth. The treatment is combined: a session is done in the clinic with which some lightening is achieved, and then some trays are made with the molds of your teeth to continue with the whitening at home for one or two weeks.
There are many whitening techniques: both laser and special whitening lamps achieve very similar results.
Whitening only lightens the shade of the teeth, not the fillings or caps. If you have a filling that remains on the visible side of the tooth (or cap), it will probably need to be replaced after the tooth whitening treatment is completed.
The duration of the effects achieved with dental whitening are not definitive. In some patients they last longer and in others less, depending on their eating habits and consumption of pigmenting substances. The average time of the effect is about 2 years, although practically never returns to the original state. That is to say, the lightening is lost with the passage of time, and it is necessary to take a reminder dose after approximately 2 years.
